Plywood vs MDF

What is plywood?

Plywood is a sheet made of glue applied to the splicing wood. The surface of the board is flat and easy to process.

Plywood is a three-layer or multi-layered plate-like material which is formed by cutting a wooden section into a veneer or by cutting into a thin wood by wood, and then bonding with an adhesive. What is MDF?

The MDF is generally a plate made of plant fibers and other wood fibers which are broken into powder and applied with adhesive. The plate has the characteristics of better nail holding power and high strength of the plate. Due to the price advantage of the plate in the market, it becomes the current furniture. Commonly used plates in the market.

MDF, also known as fiberboard, is a wood-based panel made of wood fiber or other vegetable fiber, which is made of furfural resin or other suitable adhesive. Adhesives and/or additives can be applied during the manufacturing process. The fiberboard has the advantages of uniform material, small difference in longitudinal and transverse strength, and is not easy to crack, and has wide application. The disadvantage of the fiberboard is that the back surface has a netting, which causes the surface area of the two sides of the plate to be unequal, and the plate is warped and deformed due to the difference in expansion force after moisture absorption. Hard plates have a hard surface, are difficult to nail, and have poor water resistance. 

The differences between plywood and MDF:

1. Different production processes:

MDFs are classified into three categories based on their density: low density boards, medium density boards, and high density boards.

3, Performance use distinction:

Plywood is mainly used for building construction, interior wall decoration and door panels. It has light weight and good bending characteristics on the outer surface of the shape, such as curved shape. MDF is mainly used in furniture manufacturing, building materials, vehicle and ship manufacturing, packaging. Materials and other areas. The surface of the plywood is not as smooth and flat as the surface of the MDF; the moisture content of the plywood is more stable than that of the MDF, and the plywood has better moisture resistance than the MDF, and the plywood is stronger than the MDF.
